Program Description:
Program Overview:
This immersion experience will provide the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the needs and assets of  select communities in Uganda. A needs assessment will be conducted by interacting with local leaders; visiting hospitals, businesses, and  other organizations; and by generally surveying the area. In doing so, students will develop a better understanding of the multifaceted approach to health care.

Tentative Itinerary:
Day 1:  Depart the U.S.
Day 2:  Arrive in Kigali, Africa- Meet with local staff; Overnight stay at hotel in Kigali
Day 3: Travel to lodging at beautiful Entusi retreat center on Lake Bunyoni; Orientation and meet students visiting from other U.S. university
Day 4: Visit Kabale to meet with residents and leaders of the community and tour facilities
Day 5:  Visit Lake Bunyoni area; activities at the retreat center
Day 6:  Lake Bunyoni and Kabale community visits
Day 7:  Lake Bunyoni with guest speakers and lecturers
Day 8: Travel to Kigali for shopping and touring the city. Late night departure to the U.S.

*We will be working with Global Livingston Institute (GLI) located in Denver, CO
  
Program Costs:
The program cost for Uganda Healthcare program for May 2017 is $3,900.  

Program costs include lodging, in-country transportation, most meals, international flight from New Orleans, LA., international health insurance and international emergency assistance. Does not include:  ~ 4 meals, visa, vaccines, travel to/from or parking in  New Orleans, excursion or souvenirs.

Participants should budget additional funds for personal expenses such as souvenirs or based upon individual spending habits.
 
Costs are based on anticipated exchange rates and enrollment and are subject to change. Program items may be changed in lieu of a price increase. 

Payment Schedule and Deadline:
Space is limited. Program deposit of $350.00 is due at the time of application and no later than April 5th.  Final payment deadline is April 24, 2017. Applicants can reserve a spot in the program by hitting the "Apply Now" button and completing the on-line program application. Once accepted, applicants can confirm their place in the program by paying the program deposit of $350. The deposit is applied toward the cost of the program, $300 of which will be fully refundable if participant withdraws before the priority application deadline of April 5, 2017.
 
 
Refund Policy:
Program fees are refundable only in the event of cancellation of the program and are based on recoverable expenses. All payments should be considered non-refundable and any requests for consideration of refunds based on extenuating circumstances (medical, etc…) must be made in writing and will be considered on a case by case basis.
