Program Description:

Program Overview:
This program provides an opportunity for students in College of Engineering to study in China for two weeks during the summer. Students will have an extensive and unique experience as they observe Chinese engineering practices, including sustainability, transportation, structure, architecture, environmental, and mechanical engineering. The program will visit three major cities: Beijing (north, capital), Shanghai (east coast, economy center), and Changsha (central south, capital of Hunan Province). Participants will have accesses to state of the art knowledge in engineering by top universities’ faculties, traditional and modern Chinese civil infrastructure, onsite construction visit, and experience the of diversity in climate, culture, food, and people across the vast country of China.

Accommodations and Meals:
Accommodations in a centrally located hotel in each city is provided for the entirety of the trip. Also included are daily breakfasts, as well as welcome and departure meals.

Courses:
Students will register for three (3) credit hours in Engineering. The course number is TBD. 

Program Costs:
The cost of the USA Engineering in China 2018 program is $3,899. USA Study Abroad scholarships are available to all student participants who submit an application and meet minimum program requirements.
 
Program cost includes all in-country transportation, including all specified excursions and airport transfers for those who arrive on the assigned day and time; accommodations as described above, daily breakfasts; welcome and departure dinners; specified museum entrance fees; and international health insurance and international emergency assistance. Tuition for three (3) credit hours is also included and financial aid may be applied to the cost of the trip. Program cost DOES NOT include international airfare. 
 
All meals, other than breakfasts and specified dinners, are at the participant’s own expense. Participants should budget additional funds for supplies or personal expenses such as souvenirs or independent travel, based upon individual spending habits.
 
Costs are based on anticipated exchange rates and enrollment and are subject to change. Program items may be changed in lieu of a price increase. Price may vary for graduate students.

Payment Schedule and Deadlines:
Space is limited. Program deposit of $350.00 is due at the time of application and no later than February 28, 2018. In order to qualify for a USA Study Abroad Scholarship, applications and deposits must be made no later than the priority deadline of February 16, 2018.  Final payment deadline is April 9, 2018. Applicants can reserve a spot in the program by hitting the "Apply Now" button and completing the on-line program application. Once accepted, applicants can confirm their place in the program by paying the program deposit of $350. The deposit is applied toward the cost of the program, $300 of which fully refundable if the participant withdraws before the priority application deadline of February 16, 2018.
 
Financial aid and scholarship moneys may be applied to these courses. If interested in applying for financial aid, please contact a financial aid officer at your earliest convenience to request an award for summer 2018. This program is part of the USA summer schedule of courses.
 
 Refund Policy: Program fees are refundable only in the event of cancellation of the program and are based on recoverable expenses. All payments should be considered non-refundable and any requests for consideration of refunds based on extenuating circumstances (medical, etc…) must be made in writing and will be considered on a case by case basis.
